Automotive Ferrari 328 was the successor of Ferrari 308. It was available in GTB and GTS versions. It was largely based on the 308 GTB and GTS. Small modifications were made in the styling and engine including an increase in displacement of engine to 3.2L (3185cc).
Ferrari 328 was the most sold model of Ferrari. Around 7400 Ferrari 328s were produced by the time it was replaced by its successor model Ferrari 348 in 1989. It is considered as one of the most reliable Ferrari cars. This car required less engine maintenance and unlike most of the Ferrari cars, engine maintenance can be done without lifting the engine from the vehicle.
The 328 was designated a new model due to the changes in its engine. Ferrari 328 uses a 3.2 liter V8 engine with 4 valves per cylinder layout that increased the displacement by increase in the bore and stroke. It provided the power of 270 hp and the torque of 231 lb.ft. The top speed of 308 was 166mph (267 km/h) and reaches 60 mph (97km/h) in 5.5 seconds and 100mph (160km/h) in 13 seconds.
The body of Ferrari 328 was made of steel. The front hood was aluminum, the floor pan of fiber glass-sandwiched style. Fiber glass was used for the inner wheel arches, while the ABS plastic was used for louvers and valence panels. The main improvement was the adoption of galvanized steel to retard corrosion. The exterior and the structural design of the car reduced the weight lower than its predecessors.
Interior of Ferrari 328:

328 used the back-lit orange on black gauges of GTO as it is. The main instrument binnacle through the steering wheel displayed the information from large tachometer and speedometer. It also had the meters to display the coolant temperatures, oil pressures, odometer and a trip counter. The binnacle facia was flat black. The rectangular pod held auxiliary gauges, above the center console that were dominated by the Ferrari shifter and polished gate. The doors and seats were upholstered in leather. The inner door skins were substantially redesigned to assimilate a generous map pockets and arm rests.
